Teen Advisory Board FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How many teens are on the board?

Our teen board caps at 20 members. We are currently recruiting for 3 to 5 members. We receive 40+ applications per period, so applicants are encouraged to be thoughtful and thorough in their applications.

What is involved?

Members are required to be present for least four out of five meetings, the first meeting being mandatory, and participate outside of meetings as well. Members are also required to volunteer during at least one event. Participation in other areas (e.g. writing reviews, working social media, etc.) is also necessary. Please make sure you have the bandwidth to dedicate to the board!

My daughter/son is 12. Can he/she apply?

Due to the high volume of applications and the content of many of the books read on the board, we maintain a strict 13+ policy. Those applying for membership must be 13 by the date of the first meeting (March 4th, 2017.)
