We are hiring personable, self motivated and diligent Shipping and Receiving staff members. We have part-time positions available, for either 7:00-10:00 am or 5:00 -9:00 pm. Duties include receiving, staging and checking in shipments from book publishers, general inventory control, processing returned goods and maintaining inventory systems for a single site retail store. Must be able to lift heavy boxes.

Want to contribute to Relay For Life, the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraiser? Linden Tree is now selling tickets for Ride the Rails for Relay, scheduled for Saturday, April 21st on the Niles Canyon Railway. The 90-minute ride from the Sunol Depot traverses a portion of the original Transcontinental Railroad route.

Musicians, costumed figures and train buffs will provide entertainment, and Livermore Valley wines will be offered for tasting. Riders may purchase snacks onboard or bring a picnic to enjoy in the adjacent park.

Tickets are $25 adult, $15 children 2-12, free for children under 2.

Finalists were chosen by committees of booksellers (our own Evelyn is on the Picture Book team who chose the nominees below!); all titles were written and/or illustrated by local authors or artists and published for the first time in 2011.

Winners will be announced March 26. This year’s Children’s Picture Book nominees are:

The youth and adult winners were presented with their prizes and congratulated at a reception on Tuesday, February 28th. Tom represented Linden Tree to give the Youth Ages 9-11 winners their store gift certificates.

The winners were:

Not only was the Valentine card table a huge success, Linden Tree was thrilled to be the hosts for the performance by the Matsiko World Orphans Choir.

The choir included twenty children from Liberia, Peru and India and told the stories of the lives and cultures of children in third world countries through song and dance.

It was exciting to be the gathering spot for such a festive and moving community celebration and we look forward to more downtown events in the future. We truly appreciate the hard work of Los Altos Forward to continue to encourage residents to frequent downtown businesses!
