Turn your life into the stuff of cartoons with this drawing sketchbook inspired by the protagonist of the bestselling, award-winning graphic novel New Kid, Jordan Banks.

Modeled after Jordan’s beloved sketchbook in New Kid, New Kid Sketchbook is a place for kids to practice drawing and creating cartoons. Jordan is always drawing—it’s where he figures things out and records funny events, thoughts, and ideas.

The guided content includes instructions for drawing single-panel comics, comic strips, and full comic pages. There are lessons on drawing inside and outside the panel and how to use speech and thought bubbles to convey different emotions. After each set of instructions, there are ten to twelve pages of lightly gridded pages to practice on, and plenty of blank pages interspersed for freehand drawing. The front flap is printed with a perforated ruler kids can use to draw panels. The back flap has perforated, laser-cut speech bubbles drawn by Jerry that can be used for tracing.
