Ages 8 to 12, Grades 3 to 7
An invitation to young readers to roll up their sleeves, get inspired, and take action to build a sustainable, just, and loving world.
Peace, Love, Action! is an illustrated, illuminated A-Z of everyday actions that directly make a peaceful, fun, and vibrant world. With original artworks bringing each action to life, "make friends," "go local," "cooperate," "forgive" --seemingly small deeds can really add up! Illustrated by Tanya Zabinski in her characteristic earthy style, each action comes with an inspirational mini-bio of a real hero who exemplifies that action, from Thich Nhat Hanh ("breathe") to Wangari Maathai ("plant"), and follows with a set of "What You Can Do" prompts. With a foreword by singer-songwriter and activist legend, Ani DiFranco.
About the Author
TANYA ZABINSKI views life as the ultimate artwork, and aspires to live an artful, heartful, and mindful life. A recipient of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators conference's Tomie dePaola Award, as a young person herself she studied art, design, music, and philosophy. She attended Buffalo State College and Parsons School of Design and studied in Japan for a year. She uses a self-invented reduction process with silkscreen printing, combining strong composition and flat color to create bold, graphic, eye-catching posters. A true community artist, Tanya and her husband, Joe DiPasquale, founded Elmwood Avenue Arts Festival in Buffalo, NY, and for 25 years have run Planet Love, their own art-based business, exhibiting at more than 20 outdoor art and music festivals per year. Instantly recognizable to those who know and love her art, Zabinski's prints reach a wide circulation through printing on T-shirts, housewares, and other objects.
