Job Description: Events Coordinator
Linden Tree is looking for an enthusiastic community member to join our team as our Events Coordinator! In this role you will work closely with the current Linden Tree management team, as well as the general booksellers, to envision and run events both in the bookstore and offsite. People with bookstore and/or publishing experience are particularly encouraged to apply.
Linden Tree is a friendly, inclusive space for everyone with books ranging from board books for newborns all the way up to dense adult nonfiction. We believe that books are for everyone. We are looking for someone who is a passionate reader but who also loves to talk about books with people. We need someone who is organized, detail oriented, compassionate, responsible, approachable, understanding, and a little silly when needed. We expect our events, both on-site and off, to reflect our store in every way.
Responsibilities include:
- Working with publicists & authors to set up readings, signings, and other book related events
- Finding and booking offsite locations when required
- Clear communication with managers, including noting events and holds for possible events on all internal calendars and keeping other staff current on events
- Hosting or delegating hosting of author events to ensure a smooth event in conjunction with managers and booksellers
- Event set up and post event breakdown (or coordinate delegation of setup/breakdown)
- Maintaining event promotion in coordination with managers via social media, in store displays, website, etc
- Booking performers for yearly summer concert series
- Running popular yearly “Find Waldo” hunt with other downtown businesses
- Crosstraining as a bookseller
- Attend monthly staff meetings the first Monday of each month
- Attend weekly managers meetings on Monday afternoons
