Ballet Shoes

Noel Streatfeild was born in Sussex in 1895 and was one of three sisters. She began writing children's books in 1931 and Ballet Shoes was published in 1936. She quickly became one of the most popular authors of her day. She was one of the first winners of the Carnegie Medal and was awarded an OBE in 1983. Noel Streatfeild lived in London and died in 1986.

Bill Streatfeild is the nephew of Noel Streatfeld. With the endorsement of the Stretfeild estate he has adapted his aunt's most-famous works for picture book readers.

Eve Coy studied animation at Edinburgh Art School and went on to work as an animator and story artist. After having children, Eve completed a masters in Children's Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art, during which she was twice highly commended in the Pan Macmillan prize. Since graduating, Eve has worked on a number of picture books, including her début author-illustrated picture book, LOOKING AFTER WILLIAM, which published last year by Andersen Press. She lives in the Cotswolds with her family.
