Migrants provides aneasy-to-understand explanation for children of what migration is, its causesand consequences.Humanity was nomadic for 99% of its existence.Sedentary life, national borders and the creation of identity documents forincreasingly stricter population control are comparatively recent phenomena, and paradoxical given that the world is becoming ever more globalized. Therecent emergence of populist movements in the West that are focused on closingborders and rejecting others raises serious questions about our sense of fraternity, especially when we could be facing ever larger migration movements due to theclimate crisis. This book concisely explains what migration is, itscauses and consequences, and the humanistic and legal aspects regarding it inthe simplest, most objective ways possible, so that children have all theinformation they need to understand the world around them.Introduces children aged 8and up to complex global social issues in a sensitive and balanced wayCharacterful illustrationsappropriate for the readership and subject matterEasy-to-follow, bite-sizetextIncludes a case study onthe migration into Europe
