**UPDATE May 8, 2019**
What is the next chapter for Linden Tree Books, and what does it look like?
Now is the time to engage in this conversation.
Since announcing the sale of Linden Tree in August, we have had many exceptional conversations. People have shared so much with us, including: dreams of owning a bookstore and the life experience leading them there; thoughts about different business models and organization; exciting ideas for Linden Tree's future; lifetime memories from Linden Tree's past; and most of all, a desire to preserve this Los Altos landmark in our community.
Preservation is the common thread, and for all of us, a top priority.
However, we still have yet to find a buyer that is willing to make this commitment under the cost constraints of thin margins, fixed pricing from publishers, and increased wages for Los Altos.
Please join us for an Information and Q&A Session on either May 14 or May 22 at 7:00pm to think strategically and creatively for a long-term solution to keep an independent bookstore in Los Altos.
We need a collective mindshare willing to put all ideas on the table as well as take action.
**If there is no commitment to new ownership and/or ownership structure by June 30, 2019, Linden Tree Books will CLOSE within a year thereafter.**
