In other chapters of her life, Melissa has worked as a lawyer, legal writing instructor, freelance writer, and early childhood educator. She has served on boards including schools and her synagogue, and is a current trustee at a performing arts center. Melissa lives in New York City with her family, and enjoys theatre, museums, and sharing special recipes.

Valerya Milovanova is an illustrator based in London, UK. She loves working with different textures, combining traditional materials such as ink, pencil, watercolor, gouache, and charcoal with digital media to create heartwarming, fun, and inviting illustrations.
