About the Author

JAMES HERRIOT, pseudonym for James Alfred Wight, grew up in Glasgow. He worked as a veterinary surgeon in North Yorkshire, where he remained, with the exception of his wartime service in the RAF, until his death in 1995. His bestselling books include All Creatures Great and Small, which inspired the popular PBS series.

ROSIE PAGE and JIM WIGHT are James Alfred Wight's children. Jim joined his father as a veterinarian, and Rosie became a doctor. Both Rosie and Jim live in Yorkshire.
